How it Works
How it Works
1. Rest it in your palm. Thumb on the grip pad, fingers wrapped around. There is no handle to hold.
2. Stroke the way the fur grows. Long, light passes. Do not press hard. The tines do the work.
3. Lift the fur off the tines when they fill up, and keep going.
4. Start at the shoulders and work back. Finish at the tail and back legs, where the fur is thickest.
5. Two or three minutes is enough. Once or twice a week, more often in spring and fall.

On a double-coated dog, the fur that sheds comes from the undercoat, a soft layer sitting close to the skin. Most brushes have thin pins packed tight together, so they skim the long top hairs and stop there.
This comb uses fewer tines, set wide apart and at a low angle. They part the top coat and lift the loose undercoat straight out. The tips are rounded, so nothing cuts healthy fur or scratches skin.
It sits flat in your palm, so you push with your whole hand instead of twisting your wrist. One slow pass pulls out a clump. Less fur in the air, and less fur on your couch.

Will it hurt my dog's skin?
Every tine ends in a smooth, rounded tip, and the comb is shaped to ride over the top coat rather than dig into it. There is no sharp edge to catch and nothing to pull.

Which breeds does it work on?
All coat types. Short, long, double, wiry and curly. Huskies, German Shepherds, Golden Retrievers, Labs, Corgis, Collies, Shiba Inus, Bernese and Chow Chows all work. Very small dogs and puppies may find it a bit big for their size.
What if my dog has a thin coat or no undercoat?
It still works. Every coat sheds something, even short and curly ones. The comb lifts the loose hair and dirt that is already there.

My dog hates being brushed. Will this be different?
Most dogs hate brushes because brushes pull. This one glides, so it feels closer to being petted. A lot of dogs who fight a normal brush will sit still for this one.
Does it cut the fur?
No. There are no blades on this comb. It has rounded tines set wide apart at a low angle, so they slide through the coat instead of cutting it.
Does it work on cats?
Yes. It lifts the loose hair and dead undercoat without cutting the top coat. Cats that shed a lot are the ones who notice the biggest difference.
Will it stop my dog shedding?
No. Shedding is natural and seasonal, and nothing can switch it off. What this does is move the loose fur into the comb before it lands on your floor.
Does it cause hair breakage?
No. The tines are set wide apart and lift the loose hair and dead undercoat out without tearing the healthy coat. Brushes that yank are what cause breakage.
What about other animals?
It works on any animal that sheds. Dogs, cats, horses, rabbits, and yes, even goats.

It does what it's supposed to do. Unfortunately, this model is too big for my baby dog. But I can imagine that it's perfect for big dogs or horses to get rid of all the winter wool. I have a smaller one and will keep that for emergencies.
